Tiffany
At the end of the 19th century, American Louis Comfort TIFFANY revolutionized the art of stained glass: he came up with the idea of replacing lead (toxic) with tin-soldered copper…
Fusing
I often compare the making of fusing to that of pizza: on a glass base (equivalent to dough), we place chips and small pieces (equivalent to cheese, ham…), and we put them in the oven, but a very specific oven…
Grisaille
Grisaille is a very old technique for painting on glass, with grisailles dating back to the 12th century. Pigments are mixed with gum arabic and applied to the glass with a brush, the art being to let more or less light through to create dark or light areas…
Traditionally, since the 12th century, pieces of glass have been crimped with lead, but this technique is in danger of disappearing…
Hello,
I’m a regional heritage curator, master glassmaker and Doctor of Arts and Letters.
Over 20 years ago, I opened Vitrail de Tradition, an arts and crafts studio in the Nièvre region, which creates and restores stained glass.
I used to throw away the shards of glass left over from my orders. But for the past few years, in the interests of sustainable development, I’ve been carefully salvaging all the little pieces, down to the tiniest splinters, from my creations.
By the way, have fun finding out which stained-glass window in my workshop your favourite piece of jewelry comes from on my website galerie vitrail.tradition.free.fr
Indeed, visitors left satisfied with my exhibitions, but regretted not being able to afford a large, expensive stained-glass window, and I had recorded what my best friend had once said to me: “Your glasses are so beautiful you could just frame them!”
So, for those of you who dream of the magic of stained glass, here are all these scraps of glass, worked according to the techniques of art craftsmanship with all my love of a job well done, and finally at your disposal.
To certify their uniqueness, a certificate of authenticity is supplied with every purchase.
